Jalandhar, July 5
The Congress campaign got a fillip when Patiala and Amritsar MPs Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and Gurjeet Singh Aujla canvassed for votes in various localities of Jalandhar West segment.
Like Ludhiana MP and PPCC chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, these two MPs also went door-to-door in the bypoll-bound Assembly areas. Warring and his wife Amrita Warring, Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi, Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa and former minister Raj Kumar Verka have been already campaigning for the Congress in Jalandhar West.
The slogan for Congress campaign, which Warring has given in “Jhanda chhat te, vote hath te”. Warring explains to people that they may put up flags of the BJP or the AAP on rooftops of their houses under pressure from these two parties, but they should vote for the Congress. The posters of the two parties also outnumber those of the Congress, the BSP or the SAD in the West constituency.
The Congress is facing a stiff competition from the BJP and the AAP, both of whom are reportedly using all the available strength on the urban seat.
