District Judge reviews free legal services provided by DLSA
District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Dilbagh Singh Johal held a meeting with members of the District Legal Services Authority recently. The District and Sessions Judge gave instructions to run the schemes related to NALSA (National Legal Services Authority) smoothly. He reviewed the free legal services being provided by the DLSA and said that residents of the district should take maximum benefit of it.
The judge asked the district administration to issue dependent certificates to the dependents of persons killed in road accidents, as soon as possible, so that the compensation of Rs 2 lakh can be given on time. He told the police that if any court in the district gives a verdict in an accident case, then there was a provision to give compensation to the victim in case of more than 40 per cent injuries. Therefore, in such cases, the court should be asked to send it to the District Legal Services Authority so that the victim can be given compensation under the relevant provisions of law.
Johal directed to promote the National Lok Adalat on December 14, as much as possible. He appealed to the people of the district to take advantage of the National Lok Adalat by filing as many cases as possible. He said that this saves both time and money. The decision of the Lok Adalat has the recognition of a civil decree, he said. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, SSP Surendra Lamba, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA Raj Pal Rawal and the Jail Superintendent were present on the occasion. Additional District Attorney Pawanpreet Singh, SP Manoj Kumar, Assistant Public Relations Officer Lokesh Kumar, Agyapal Singh Sahni, Kiranpreet Kaur Dhami and Darshan Kaushal were also present.
