DC office staff to take out protest march tomorrow
Jalandhar, July 6
DC office employees, under the banner of the DC Daftar Karamchari Union, have decided to hold a protest march against the state government over its failure to address their long-pending demands.
The union members, in a message circulated today, asked employees to gather in a large number at the PUDA Complex near Kapurthala chowk from where they will take out a protest march in the nearby markets and localities on Monday.
Tejinder Singh, state president of the union, expressed disappointment over the government’s failure to fulfil their demands despite several protests in the past.
“Union representatives met government officials several times in the past. They assured us that our legitimate demands will be addressed. However, no action has been taken so far,” he said, adding that the employees also held a protest against the government on Friday and went on mass leave.
The union members said their demands include reinstatement of old pension scheme, payment of arrears of dearness allowance, restoration of various grants and filling vacant positions of superintendent and tehsil according to the 1995 terms and conditions. The union also demanded rural area and FTA allowances and toll exemption.
