DC assures adequate fertiliser supply in Kapurthala district
Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal has assured that Kapurthala district has sufficient supply of DAP and other fertilisers, warning that any stockpiling by dealers will not be tolerated.
The DC assured that fertilisers are being made available to farmers through cooperative societies and authorised dealers. “If any dealer is found hoarding, strict action will be taken,” he emphasised.
He added that district and sub-divisional teams from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Society are regularly conducting inspections to prevent disruptions in fertiliser availability for farmers.
Panchal also directed that any dealer charging above the government-fixed rate or engaging in “tagging” will face strict action under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985.
Meanwhile, inspection teams led by Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Balbir Chand inspected several dealers, including M/s Kasturi Lal & Subhash Chander, M/s Amin Chand Shadi Ram, M/s Brij Mohan & Brothers, M/s Manohar Lal Pathak & Sons, and M/s Dina Nath Ram Sarup.
Additionally, in Sultanpur Lodhi, Agriculture Officer Gurpreet Singh and Dr Jaspal Singh Dhanzhu led inspections at various dealer outlets such as Raj Pesticides, Kisan Kheti Store, Khinda Agriculture Centre, Punjab Kheti Store, Janta Fertilizer Centre, Zamindara Khad Store, Chandi Pesticides, Dasmesh Fertilizer Store, United Sales Corporation, and Guru Amar Das Fertilizer Store. During these checks, teams communicated with farmers and verified the records of fertiliser stock to ensure compliance with government standards.
