Girl booked in accident case

Hoshiarpur: The Garhshankar police have booked a girl in a road accident case wherein a youth was killed. Ravinder Singh, a resident of Simbli village, said he, along with his friend Manjit Singh, a resident of Dhamai, was on his way to Nawanshahr on their two-wheeler. A car hit them near Simbli village and Manjit Singh died on the spot. The police have registered a case against the car driver, Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Simbli village.

Husband booked for dowry harassment

Hoshiarpur: The Chabbewal police have registered a case against Harish Kumar, a resident of Bham village, for allegedly harassing his wife for dowry. Mandeep Kaur, a resident of Krishna Nagar, New Delhi, told the police that she was married to Harish Kumar. After the marriage, he started harassing her for more dowry. Seeing that the demand was not fulfilled, he tortured her and threw her out of the house.

Youth goes missing, case registered

Hoshiarpur: The Bullowal police have booked an unidentified accused in a kidnapping case on the complaint of the victim’s father. Jagpal Singh, a resident of Kathe village, told the police that his son Atul went missing from the house at around 10 am on August 2 under mysterious circumstances. The victim’s father had expressed apprehension in his complaint that some unknown persons might have kidnapped his son.

Minor abducted, 1 booked

Hoshiarpur. The Sadar police have booked a youth for abducting a minor girl luring her on the pretext of marriage. The complainant told the police that his daughter had left home for school on August 4. But after that neither she reached the school nor returned home. He alleged that Abhay Sharma, a resident of his village, lured his daughter on the pretext of marrying her. The police have registered a case.

Man held for stealing ‘golak’ money

Hoshiarpur: The Mahilpur police have arrested a man for stealing money from a golak kept at a gurdwara. Dilbagh Singh, a resident of Jassowal village, told the police that cash was stolen from the golak of Gurdwara Sahib. After checking the CCTV footage and it was found that Mangat Ram alias Manga, a resident of Ema Jattan village, stole the money by putting a wire in the golak.

7 held, intoxicants seized

Hoshiarpur: The district police have arrested seven smugglers and seized a huge quantity of intoxicants. The police arrested Vicky alias Vikram, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar and recovered 230 grams of intoxicating powder. The Model Town police arrested Chetan Hans alias Robin, a resident of Balmiki Mohalla, and recovered 8 gram of heroin from him while Sucha Singh alias Sukha, a resident of Ramgarh was arrested recovering 12 bottles of liquor from him. The Bullowal police have arrested one Rampal, a resident of Shamchuarasi, and recovered 28 gram of narcotic powder from him. The Tanda police arrested Nimat Kumar, a resident of Fatehgarh Niada, and Sandeep Singh, a resident of Ajjowal, and seized 600 gram of opium from him. Sukhveer Singh alias Mithu, a Miyani resident was arrested and 6,750 ml liquor was recovered from him.
