Crackdown on hookah bars, four arrested

The city police on Monday conducted raids at various hotels and malls in the city and registered FIR against two restaurants where hookah bars were being operated. Four persons, including a manager of the restaurant, have been arrested. Besides, eight hookahs, hookah pipes and flavours were seized.
As per the police, the owner and staff members of George The Irish Pub located at Chunmun Mall and Firangi restaurant near Urban Estate have been booked under Sections 4 and 21 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003. The police said that they received information about hookah bars being operated illegally in the city, following which they conducted raids at various locations.
They said three persons, identified as Vinay Sandhu, a resident of Sadak Mohalla in Garha, Prince, a resident of Anup Enclave, Sansarpur ,and Ravindra, a resident of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh were arrested from George The Irish Pub and four hookahs along with pipes and two flavours were seized from the pub during the raid. From Firangi restaurant, the police arrested Ritesh Sehgal, the manager of the restaurant and seized four hookahs along with pipes and three flavours from the spot.
