Computer teachers to protest outside CM's house in Sangrur
The Computer Teachers Hunger Strike Struggle Committee, Punjab, would hold a ‘Haq Bachao Rally’ at Sangrur in front of the Chief Minister’s residence on December 14. Frustrated by the state government’s alleged continued neglect, computer teachers have decided to begin a fast-unto-death on December 22 with five teachers beginning their fast on that day.
These decisions were taken in a state-level meeting of computer teachers, who have been on hunger strike for 100 days, in front of the DC office in Sangrur to demand their legitimate rights. The meeting was held recently and was attended by key members of the Computer Teachers Hunger Strike Struggle Committee, Punjab
A spokesperson of the struggle committee, Ranjit Singh said it was decided that the rally will be a joint action by students, employees, teachers and farmer organisations. The primary objective of this demonstration was to highlight the promises made by the government to the computer teachers that failed to materialise. “Frustrated by the government’s continued neglect, the computer teachers have decided to begin a fast-unto-death on December 22. In the first phase, Joni Singla (Bathinda), Ranjit Singh (Patiala), Udam Singh Dogra (Hoshiarpur), Ravinder Kaur (Fatehgarh Sahib), and Seema Rani (Patiala) will begin their fast. A large number of teachers will join the fast following this.”
