The ‘CM di Yogshala’ programme, spearheaded by the government, saw the registration of 5,898 participants in Jalandhar to enhance their physical and mental well-being. Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal lauded the initiative, highlighting its role in fostering a healthy lifestyle and holistic wellness across the district.

The DC said operating through 167 active yoga classes, this programme ensured the accessibility for both urban and rural communities. Of these, 80 classes were conducted at the block level, bringing yoga to the rural areas, while 87 classes catered to urban participants. This structured outreach reflected the government’s commitment to making yoga a daily practice for all sections of society.

The DC further said a dedicated 32-member team drove the success of the programme. These instructors conducted daily sessions, with 16 serving urban areas and 15 focusing on rural communities, ensuring a balanced approach to wellness.

He also said the programme also encouraged the community participation as residents could start free yoga classes in their localities by gathering at least 25 members and giving a missed call to 7669400500 or registering on cmdiyogshala.punjab.gov.in.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh said in yet another unique initiative to further empower yoga enthusiasts, satellite centres were being established in the district where applicants would be offered a one-year job-oriented Yoga Diploma Course, equipping students with skills and practical exposure. These trainees would be deployed as yoga instructors and would receive stipends, creating opportunities for financial independence.
