The LKCTC School of Management recently organised a session to honour the visionary entrepreneur, Ratan Tata. Dr Inderpal Singh and Harshita led a presentation highlighting Ratan Tata’s educational background, his rise to the position of Chairman of the Tata Group in 1991, and his transformation of the company into a global powerhouse through major acquisitions like Jaguar Land Rover, Tetley Tea and Corus Steel. His contributions through Tata Trusts in health, education and rural development were also emphasised. The students were encouraged to adopt Tata as a role model for his leadership and legacy. The session concluded by observing a minute of silence in tribute.

GNDU team wins bronze in badminton

A team from Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus, Jalandhar, comprising Saksham Parmar, Kartik, Saksham Sharma, Keshav, Rupal and Shivaansh won a bronze medal in badminton under the guidance of team manager Jasjeet Singh at the Inter-College Sports Tournament organised by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The tournament was held at Doaba College, Jalandhar, on October 9. Dr Rupam Jagota, Dean of GNDU Regional Campus, congratulated the players, commending their hard work and dedication, and wishing them continued success in their athletic pursuits. The achievement underscores the university’s commitment to promoting sportsmanship and excellence among its students.

World Sight Day observed

Jalandhar: Under ‘Disha— An Initiative’, Innocent Hearts celebrated World Sight Day across its five schools to raise awareness about visual impairment and promote vision health. Based on the theme ‘Love Your Eyes’, Science Club students participated in activities like poster-making on eye care and vision education. A presentation provided tips on maintaining eye health, including reducing screen time, regular check-ups and following the 20-20-20 rule to relax the eyes. Students were also informed about government initiatives like the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Vision Impairment and WHO’s Vision Health Programme. Dr Palak Gupta Bowry emphasised the importance of balanced diet and eye care routine.

School Boy bags silver medal

Jalandhar: Sukhmanpreet Singh won a silver medal in shotput event at the CBSE Cluster Games held in Pathankot recently. Competing in the Under-19 category, he demonstrated exceptional determination and skill, bringing pride to State Public School, Shahkot. School principal, Kanwar Neel Kamal, felicitated Sukhmanpreet for his outstanding achievement, which brought great pride to the school and to his parents.

Inter-college contest held

Jalandhar: KMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School organised an online national-level Inter-School ‘Caption Writing’ Contest named ‘Power of Pen’ in order to harness the creative potential of students in English language. The competition was organised by the Department of English and saw an overwhelming participation of the students from different states like Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi. The students of KMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School (Arts/Commerce/Science) also participated with enthusiasm. All the participants were given e-certificates and the winners were awarded with Certificates of Excellence for their catchy captions. Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English and Vanila for organising this online event successfully. She also encouraged the young learners to participate more in these kinds of activities as such events create ample opportunities to enhance their language competencies.

Dandiya night organised

Jalandhar: St Soldier Group of Institutions organised a grand dandiya night on the auspicious occasion of Navratri at Cine Port Club of PPR Mall. It was led by Group Chairman Anil Chopra and vice-chairperson Sangeet Chopra. The programme started by invoking divine blessings. The students and staff members from various branches of the group participated wearing Gujarati attire, holding dandiya in their hands. The excitement of the participants was visible. Garba-Dandiya provides for fun during Navratri. Group Chairman Anil Chopra and vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra congratulated everyone on the occasion of Navratri and wished everyone a bright future.

Workshop on Histopathology

Amritsar: The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, pharmacy wing, at Global Group of Institute, organised a comprehensive two-day workshop on “Histological techniques”. The workshop was held to give the participants practical insights into essential techniques used in histopathology laboratories. Gurinder Singh and Harpreet Singh from Lovely Professional University led sessions on histological techniques and acquainted the students with the method required in tissue processing and embedding, sectioning and staining techniques, microscopic examination and interpretation of histological slides. The participating students were provided with hands-on opportunity to practice tissue processing, sectioning, and staining under expert guidance. The two-day workshop on histological techniques was aimed at equipping the participants with practical skills and knowledge about their role in medical laboratory sciences.
