Campus notes: Role Play Competition
Delhi Public School hosted Sahodaya Inter-School Role Play Competition, bringing together 30 schools from the region. The competition, open to students of grades III to V, centred around the enchanting theme of ‘Fairy Tales’, providing a platform for young talent to showcase their creativity, expression and acting skills. The winning teams that received trophies and certificates included Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Somerset International School, Shiv Jyoti Public School and Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara. Principal Ritu Kaul congratulated the participants for their talent, confidence and passion for role-playing.
Motivational session
Jalandhar: The Literary Club of School of Management and Institution’s Innovation Council along with Training and Placement Cell at Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus recently hosted an inspiring motivational session by Tarveen Kaur. She captivated the audience with her engaging presentation, sharing valuable insights and practical strategies for cultivating positivity in daily life. Through interactive discussions and thought-provoking exercises, attendees learned how to overcome challenges, harness their potential and foster resilience. Students shared their experiences and took away actionable tips to apply in their academic and personal journeys. The event was coordinated by Kunal Verma and Ruchi Gulati. Dr Inderpal Singh (Dean, Research and Examination) presented a vote of thanks.
Paper presentation competition
Jalandhar: Innocent Hearts School, Green Model Town and Loharan, organised an English paper presentation competition for the students studying in Grades XI and XII. The event saw enthusiastic participation, with students presenting thought-provoking papers on UN’s SDG-4 (Sustainable Development Goal-4) of quality education for all and SDG-13 of climate change. The competition aimed to foster critical thinking, public speaking and effective communication. In Green Model Town, Gurmannat, Sargun Kaur and Divyanshi won prizes. In Loharan branch, Daksh Gulati, Samiksha and Mishti were declared the winners.
Workshop on security market
Jalandhar: Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, organised a two-day workshop on ‘Career in Security Market and Money Management’ under the aegis of National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), a CSR initiative of Aditya Birla Capital Foundation. The workshop aimed to educate students about the intricacies of securities markets, investment opportunities and career prospects in the financial sector. Renowned resource persons Nagesh Kumar, CFA, CS, and Anita Saini, SEBI-registered trainer, shared their expertise with the participants. The workshop covered eight comprehensive sessions, including importance of investment, financial investment opportunities, primary and secondary market investments, mutual funds and precautions while investing. Principal Dr Archna Garg appreciated the special efforts taken by the cell to provide students with skill development opportunities.
Inter-School Painting Competition
Jalandhar: An Inter-School Painting Competition was hosted by Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara. The event was organised by Phagwara Private Schools Association. The event was divided into two different categories. Category 1 (Classes III-V) was based on the theme ‘Diwali’ and Category 2 (Classes VI-VIII) was based on the theme ‘Grow more trees’. About 44 students from 11 different schools participated in the event enthusiastically depicting the theme through their colourful paintings. Organisers from Phagwara Private Schools Association, Kimti Lal Jain (President), Robin Singh (Secretary), Dr Narottam Kheti (Cashier) and Rakesh Sharma (PRO) graced the occasion with their presence. In Category 1, the first position was bagged by Anreet Kaur of Lord Mahavir Jain Public School, followed by Seerat Kaur of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji Public School and Varleen Kaur of Lord Mahavir Jain Public School at second and third positions, respectively. The overall trophy was won by Lord Mahavir Jain Public School, Phagwara. Anju Mehta, Principal, thanked all the guests and lauded the students.
Annual athletics meet
Jalandhar: The annual athletics meet was held at State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt. Brig Kuldeep Kumar Ashta, VCM Commandant MD at Military Hospital, Jalandhar Cantt, Anmol Singh, Managing Director of Group of State Public Schools, Geetanjali Dhanik, wife of Lt Col Chandresh Thakur, Binderjit Kaur, Principal of Kinder World School and Bandana Bhandari, MD of Bridz and Cubz School, added to the grandeur of the event. The two-day event showcased various performances which commenced with a welcome dance, Mandala yoga dance and drill followed by track events for students from Nursery to Class 12 along with field events. The prize distribution ceremony was held after the event and it gradually concluded with dance performances and National Anthem. The highlights of the event were the races for fathers and mothers and tug-of-war, which added a fun element to the event. Sahibzada Ajit Singh House was declared the overall House winner.
Joy of Giving Week
Jalandhar: Joy of Giving Week was celebrated at Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School, Sangal Sohal-Variana, Kapurthala Road, Jalandhar. On the occasion, students went to Primary Government School, Sangal Sohal and distributed educational material like school bags, notebooks, pencil boxes, water bottles etc. This was a step towards positive social change and its importance was explained to the students by the teachers. Principal Priyanka Sharma said that such initiative imbibes the feeling of empathy and sharing in the students.
