St Soldier college

Jalandhar: St Soldier College, launched an ‘adopt a tree’ project through its Eco Club as part of the national campaign ‘a tree in the name of the mother’. Today, the initiative was inaugurated by College Director Dr Veena Dada, Principal Dr Manjit Kaur, Vice-Principal Dr Paramjit Kaur, Eco Club in-charge Seema Rani and faculty members, all pledging to plant and care for trees to promote a pollution-free environment. Dr Dada emphasised the significance of the Eco Club and inspired students to participate in tree planting. The project organised students into five groups — Gulmohar, Guldaudi, Marigold, Rose and Lily — each consisting of ten students and faculty members assigned to specific plots of land for maintenance. Group Chairman Anil Chopra and Vice-Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra commended the college’s initiative, noting its crucial role in environmental improvement and sustainability.

Jalandhar: An advocacy meeting of the Red Ribbon Club was held at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, to distribute grants to various Red Ribbon Clubs in Jalandhar district. The event, guided by Ravi Dara, in-charge, Office Assistant Director of Youth Services, saw participation from Red Ribbon in-charges of 25 colleges, along with two students from each college competing in a poster-making competition focused on HIV/AIDS and drug awareness. The stage was managed by Satpal Singh. Dr Navjot, principal of the college, served as the chief guest, while Punjabi singer Dalwinder Dayalpuri was the special guest. Harbilas Heera addressed the issue of drug abuse using a PowerPoint presentation and discussed potential solutions. Contributions from SK Midha and Dr Sahib Singh, who shared their insights on HIV/AIDS, enriched the discussion. Principal Dr Navjot commended RRC Officers Manjeet Kaur and Dr Sarabjit Kaur for their successful organisation of the event.

Mehr chand Polytechnic college

Jalandhar: Manneet Singh, a final year civil engineering student at Mehr Chand Polytechnic College (MCPC), has been awarded the best student award by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), North Section, New Delhi. The award recognises excellence in academics, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. Principal Dr Jagroop Singh congratulated Dr Rajeev Bhatia, head, civil engineering department, and the entire faculty for their contributions to this remarkable achievement.

Agi welfare school

Jalandhar: Agi Welfare School celebrated Navratri with joy and devotion, honoring Goddess Durga during Durga Puja. Girl students shone in vibrant attire, enthusiastically participating in rituals. The event featured cultural programs and special prayers, creating a festive atmosphere filled with happiness and reverence. Salwinderjit Kaur, Chairperson of the Agi Educational Society, emphasised that education was a fundamental right for every child. She highlighted their efforts to ensure all students received free education, including books, uniforms and mid-day meals. Kaur also focused on the importance of girls’ education, expressing her delight in promoting educational opportunities for all children, especially girls, on this special occasion.
