Campus notes: Platinum Jubilee celebrations
Jalandhar: Mehr Chand Polytechnic College celebrated its Platinum Jubilee. Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan attended the event. Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, MLA Raman Arora, Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, Additional Director Technical Education Ravinder Singh and Director NITTTR Chandigarh Bhola Ram Gujjar were the guests of honour. The guests were welcomed by Principal Dr Jagroop Singh. NCC cadets of the college presented a Guard of Honour to the chief guest, who also inaugurated Students’ Achievement Gallery. Seechewal announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh from MPLADS funds.
‘Meet the Author’ event held
Jalandhar: A ‘Meet the Author’ event was organised by the PG Department of English at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women wherein Sarbpreet Singh, a renowned author and podcaster, discussed his recent work "Cauldron, sword and victory: The rise of the Sikhs". The session commenced with an introduction by Assistant Professor Harmohini who highlighted the significance of his works as they are an important resource for all students. Sarbpreet also shared his insights on Sikh history with the students. The students were particularly encouraged by his personal journey and his dedication as a committed writer. He inspired the students to think critically about history and culture. The session ended with vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Dr Shikha Sharma.
Annual Day celebration
Jalandhar: Annual day was celebrated at Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Hall. The theme of the function was ‘We are different. We are the same’. Naveen Juneja, Regional PF Commissioner, EPFO (Kolkata), was the chief guest of the occasion. President NK Handa, Gurukul Director Sushma Handa, Anil Chopra, Sangeeta Chopra, Sunil Chopra and Poonam Wadhera were also present. Action-packed dance ‘Jako Rakhe Saiyan’ filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervour whereas bhangra proved to be the central attraction of the day. Prizes were given to the students who brought laurels to the institute in different activities. In his speech, chief guest Naveen Juneja focused on parent's attention towards their wards. Principal Radha Gakhar presented the annual report of the school.
