Jalandhar: The festival of Karva Chauth was celebrated by the St Soldier Group of Institutions. The event was organised in the auditorium of St Soldier Divine Public School, Main Branch at Master Gurbanta Singh Marg. The chief guest on this special occasion was Group Vice Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra. She was welcomed by the school principal, Divpreet Kaur, and group staff members. The event was started by the chief guest by lighting the lamp. The schoolgirls applied mehndi to Chopra's hands. Various performances were performed by the teachers, which included dance, singing, etc. A modelling competition was also organised on this event in which the title of Miss Karva Chauth was bagged by Priyanka, the first runner up was Himanshi, the second runner up was Sheena, the best hairdo was Kamaljit Kaur, the best dress was Parvinder Kaur, the best makeup was Anuradha, the best attractive was Mandeep Kaur, and the and the Miss Gleeful title was bagged by Mandeep Kaur.

Dress Up Like SDGs Competition

Mayor World School hosted an engaging inter-house ‘Dress up like SDGs Competition’ for students of classes III to V. The event aimed to creatively engage our young learners while raising awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each house represented three specific SDGs, showcasing their creativity and understanding of these critical global initiatives through their costumes and performances. The event was graced by Principal Divya Keni and Deputy Vice Principal Charu Trehan, who added prestige to the occasion. Shakespeare House, represented by Rubab Kaur Hothi of Class III, Aradhya Jagota of Class IV, and Sidharth Sharma of Class V, secured the first position. Wordsworth House followed closely, achieving second place, while Keats House earned third, with Dickens House rounding off the competition in fourth place. Special awards were also given to individual participants: Sidharth Sharma received the award for the Best Diction, Aradhya Jagota for the Best Presentation, and Nazakat Sahni for the Best Costume.

Cyclothon organised

Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, in collaboration with Central Depository Service Limited (CDSL), organised Cyclothon 2024 to mark the World Investor Week to generate awareness about the importance of savings, investments and protection from financial scams. The main theme of the World Investor Week is to stop the financial scams and it promoted the slogan 'Slam the Scam'. The cyclothon was organised by CDSL resource person and Head, Department of Commerce, Dr Jaswinder Kaur. The principal, Dr Navjot, appreciated Dr Jaswinder Kaur for conducting the event.

International Food Day

Eklavya School’s Primary Wing enthusiastically celebrated International Food Day with a series of engaging activities focused on the importance of food and nutrition. The event aimed to promote awareness about healthy eating habits among young students. The highlight of the celebration was an interactive session led by class teacher Rubal, who educated students about healthy and unhealthy food choices. Through fun and informative discussions, students learnt how to make healthier decisions in their daily lives. Students also participated actively by delivering insightful speeches on the significance of International Food Day, highlighting the global importance of food security and sustainability. Principal Komal Arora emphasised the value of food and the importance of minimising food waste. Arora's encouraging words inspired students to be more mindful of their food habits and continue learning about nutrition.

Enhancing students’ creativity

Apeejay College of Fine Arts promotes 'Earn while Learn' to instill confidence in them to become more confident. With the joint efforts of the Department of Fashion Makeover and NSS Wing, a grand event 'Shri', the festival of Karva, was organised in the college. Dr Neerja Dhingra (principal), while expressing her views, said, "We organise such events to enhance the creativity of students and give them the taste of being entrepreneurs.

DST INSPIRE camp concludes

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised the valedictory session of the DST-sponsored INSPIRE Internship Camp. The five-day camp featured engaging lectures, hands-on workshops and a vibrant atmosphere of learning. Addressing the valedictory session, Principal Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi explained the importance of such initiatives in promoting scientific literacy. She also motivated the students to set big goals for themselves and added that the DST INSPIRE camp at KMV not only provided a platform for engaging with scientific concepts but also instilled motivation and curiosity that will influence students’ educational journeys. The highlight of the fifth day was an insightful talk by Dr Yogesh Kumar Singh from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune. Dr Yogesh Singh captivated the audience with his presentation on satellite communication, emphasising its crucial role in modern technology and daily life.

Inter-DIPS Sports Tournament

Inter-DIPS Sports Tournament started with great enthusiasm in the ground of DIPS School, Begowal. On the first day of the Zone-1 tournament, volleyball, basketball and kho-kho matches were organised between the boys’ and girls’ team of five schools of DIPS. Principal of DIPS School, Begowal, Deepti Kuushal and Principal of DIPS School, Hariana, Monica Sachdeva welcomed the CAO of DIPS chain Ramneek Singh and CEO Monica Mandotra with flowers. The volleyball and basketball matches were won by DIPS Bhogpur team. DIPS Hariana team won the kho-kho match.
