Campus notes: Inter-School Origami Competition

Jalandhar: State Public School, Shahkot, participated in Sahodaya Inter-School Origami Competition held at Mayor World School. Diya of class VII and Sukhdeep Kaur of class VIII bagged the first prize in the competition. The competition centred around the theme of ‘Panch Tattva— Shaping Nature’s Five Elements through the Art of Origami’. Contenders from around 31 schools participated in the event. Both the students allowed their imaginations and artistic explorations to flow resulting in magical expressions. The students were guided by Viney, Anil and Surinder. Principal Kanwar Neel Kamal congratulated the winners and their mentors for their performance in the event. He motivated other students to participate in these competitions.

IKG PTU North Zone Youth Festival

Jalandhar: DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET) clinched the overall championship at the IKGPTU North Zone Youth Festival, achieving impressive victories across multiple categories. DAVIET students secured gold medals in classical vocal solo, western vocal solo, group song (Western), and silver medals in classical percussion, classical non-percussion, light vocal Indian, group shabad/bhajan, and group song (Indian). Additionally, they won a bronze medal in vaar singing. In the fine arts category, DAVIET excelled by winning gold medals in poster-making, mehndi, collage, on-the-spot painting and cartooning, showcasing the students’ creativity and cultural insight. The literary events also brought honours with a gold medal in poem recitation and bronze medals in story writing and debate. Dr Sudhir Sharma, officiating principal of DAVIET, commended the students for their achievements.

Quiz competition

Jalandhar: A House-wise quiz competition was conducted at Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School on the topic ‘Cyber security’. Students of Class I-VIII participated in it. Principal Priyanka Sharma congratulated the students and informed that such quiz contests help the students learn about a subject in a fun way and help them build confidence..

Cancer awareness

Jalandhar: St Soldier Nursing Institute organised a cancer awareness programme by conducting a rally. The programme was conducted under the supervision of college principal Neeraj Sethi. Students visited the locals and made them aware about cancer. They wrote messages on cancer awareness on the posters and emphasised early detection and timely treatment. Group Chairman Anil Chopra and vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra motivated them to take part in social activities too.

Inter-school fiesta

Jalandhar: CT Group of Institutions, North Campus, Maqsudan, hosted a vibrant inter-school fiesta, Colours 2024, gathering over 70 schools and 1,500 enthusiastic students. Students from MGN Public School, Government Senior Secondary School, Kartarpur, Shiv Jyoti School, Nehru Garden School, Shiv Devi Girls School, Swami Sant Dass School, Cambridge School, Apeejay School, Lawrence International School and others came together. The event offered a creative platform where students showcased their talent across a spectrum of competitions, such as Prashnottari-Quiz, Treasure Trove, War of Words (Debate), Drone Competition, Alpana (Rangoli), Medika (Mehndi), Kala Kriti (Poster Making), Food Poker (Salad Making), Face Painting, Solo Singing, Bhangra/Giddha, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Fashion Show, and more. The day peaked with an awards ceremony where campus director Dr Ramandeep Gautam, Dr Anju, principal of CTCE, and Head of Admissions, Dinesh Kumar, presented trophies to outstanding participants. Swami Sant Dass School, Jalandhar, proudly claimed the overall trophy with Cambridge International School, Jalandhar, securing the runners-up trophy.
