The Indian Institute of Management-Amritsar concluded a highly impactful five-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on “Nurturing Academic Excellence” for principals and vice-principals of PM Shri School, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in the northern region in states like Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. The programme is aimed at empowering school leaders to drive academic innovation and holistic development in their institutions.IIM Amritsar has been entrusted with this responsible mission of training 52 school leaders in partnership with the Navodaya Leadership Institute (NLI), Amritsar, spearheaded by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, India. Prof Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director, IIM Amritsar, highlighted the institute’s dedication to fostering educational leadership. Programme director Dr Vartika Dutta emphasised the practical and collaborative nature of the sessions.

CKD observes martyrdom day

Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society celebrated the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur with reverence and respect. The Society organised a religious function at Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Sahib. Prabhjot Kaur of Sri Guru Harikrshan Public School sang Guru Jas and president of the Chief Khalsa Diwan, Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, while paying homage to the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, said that the principle and tradition of martyrdom is a unique identity of Sikh history and culture. On the occasion, the educational committee being run under the auspices of the Chief Khalsa Diwan, awarded the students who secured the first, second and third positions in the religious examination with cash prizes and certificates.

Kaun Banega Best Anchor contest

The Department of Mass Communication and Video Production at DAV College, Amritsar, organised a “Kaun Banega Best Anchor” competition. As part of this event, students presented their thoughts on important topics such as clean environment, water conservation, gender equality, waste management, environmental protection, rural-urban development, and good health. College principal Dr Amardeep Gupta praised the performances of the students, emphasising that being a ‘Radio jockey’ provides an excellent medium of communication and a promising career option. He remarked that being a radio jockey is an effective medium for information dissemination. Therefore, the competition was organised to raise awareness among students about these significant issues. Tanveer Kaur secured the first position, Sonia stood second, and Sandeep bagged the third prize. At the conclusion of the event, the winners were awarded prizes.
