Red Cross Society rally
As the Indian Red Cross Society took an initiative by organising a two-day rally titled “People’s Walk Against Drugs” under the leadership of Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, the students and staff of The Nobel School played a major role. On December 10, the march culminated at The Nobel School, where the participants were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. The campus was adorned with banners and slogans promoting a drug-free society, reflecting the school’s commitment to social causes. The Governor, upon arrival, was given a warm reception by the school’s management, staff and students. A cultural programme featuring patriotic songs and dances was presented to honour the dignitaries and celebrate the occasion.
English debate competition
Nishtha and Ankita of Dayanand Model School, Model Town, have brought laurels to the school by securing the second position in the prestigious 16th All India S. Darshan Singh Memorial English Debate Competition held at State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt. Competing against 50 participants from across the state, the two talented girls displayed good oratorical skills, critical thinking and confidence, which earned them the achievement.
Annual function
The annual function of Sant Baba Nidhan Singh Ji Public School was celebrated with great pomp and show in the school premises. Balkar Singh (MLA Kartarpur) was the chief guest at the function. A number of entertaining performances and acts by the students were the highlights of the event. The students presented a grand show of their talent, creativity and love for their dreams as the function was on the theme, ‘Sapno ki Udaan — The Wings of Desire’. The bhangra and giddha at the end stole the show.
Expert talk on financial literacy
An enlightening expert talk on financial literacy was organised at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Jalandhar Cantt, under the leadership of Principal Ravinder Kumar. The session featured Dr Sidharth Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Business Management, DAV University, Jalandhar, as the guest speaker. Vice-principal Ugra Mohan Yadav welcomed Dr Sharma and highlighted the importance of financial literacy as a critical life skill in today’s world. Dr Sharma delivered an inspiring talk, emphasising the essentials of financial planning, saving and investment. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Sushil Kumar, senior teacher, who expressed gratitude to Dr Sharma for his insightful session.
Symposium on works of Jane Austen
The Readers’ Club of Police DAV Public School hosted a symposium on the works of celebrated English novelist Jane Austen, focusing on four of her seminal novels: Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, and Emma. The event brought together literature enthusiasts and students to delve into Austen’s insightful portrayal of society, love and personal growth. The event aimed at analysing Austen’s novels in the context of 19th century English society. The presenters critiqued the themes, characters and plot in her works, concluding it with an overview.
