Campus notes: GNDU Kho-Kho Championship
Jalandhar: The GNDU Kho-Kho Inter-College Championship 2024-25 was held at the Amritsar campus where the kho-kho team from PCM SD College for Women secured the second position amidst intense competition. The team demonstrated strategic coordination, quick reflexes, and an unwavering spirit throughout the tournament. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar expressed immense pride in the team’s achievement, lauding their efforts and dedication.
Annual Function 2024
Phagwara: Kamla Nehru Public School celebrated its Annual Function 2024 with a grand multilingual theatrical production, ‘Dastaan-e-Maharaja Ranjit Singh’. Presented in Hindi, English, and Punjabi, the mesmerising two-hour performance paid tribute to the life and legacy of Sher-e-Punjab, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who promoted equality and secularism. The chief guest was Navneet Kaur Bal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala-cum-Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Phagwara. The guest of honour was Divya Sardana. About 1,500 students portrayed the legendary ruler’s journey from his birth in 1780 to his remarkable achievements as the unifier of Punjab. Paramjeet Kaur Dhillon, Principal (Admin & Innovation), highlighted the school’s commitment to sustainability by introducing an eco-friendly invitation system. An e-card with a QR code was shared with students to invite parents, promoting paper conservation and reducing environmental impact.
Pickleball Tournament
Students of Bassi Educational Society run Cambridge International School performed well at the recently held Pickleball Tournament, where athletes clinched gold, silver, and bronze medals across various categories. The tournament took place in Smalakha, Haryana which brought together some of the finest pickleball players from across the region, where Cambridge International School’s Boys’ team demonstrated exceptional skill, strategic play, and determination. Naman of class VIII bagged gold medals, Ryan Kalsi of class XI got silver medal and Radesh and Ramanjot got bronze medal. In girl’s team, Aadya (VII) won the coveted two gold medals and one bronze showcasing her coordination and skill on the court whereas Sanya and Smiti (VIII) secured one gold and one silver medal. Jasleen Walia (XI) became the recipient of one silver and one bronze medal. Jorawar Singh, Principal said, “We are incredibly proud of our students who not only exhibited outstanding athletic ability but also displayed the spirit of fair play and determination throughout the competition.”
Indo-Nepal Karate Championship
The 17th Indo-Nepal Karate Championship was held at Batala recently, where students of Innocent Hearts School, Loharan and Cantt Jandiala Road showcased their skills. Abhijeet Singh and Sukhmani from Loharan won gold medals, while Bhavika Babbar and Angel Chahal won silver medals. Pratham Sood, a student of Cantt Jandiala Road, won gold and Jayesh won silver medal. Top Karate players from four countries - India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Nepal participated in this competition. Chairman Dr. Anup Bowry and School Director Shally Bowry congratulated the students on this achievement.
