A bus hit three members of a family walking on foot at Garna Sahib on Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway at Dasuya, killing a man on the spot while injuring two others seriously. The angered family blocked the highway for 2 hours. The jam was opened after assurance by the police.
According to information, a woman Paramjit Kaur along with her two sons Sukhinder Singh and Ravinder Singh had set out on foot from village Pawen Jhingad. She was going to the sarpanch’s house to get widow pension and KYC of ration card done.
A bus of a private company hit the three near Garna Sahib. In the accident, Sukhinder died on the spot while Paramjit and Ravinder were seriously injured. They were referred to Government Medical College, Amritsar. The driver of the bus fled, leaving the bus there. Family members protested demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and blocked the road, staging dharna. After around two hours, the police and administrative officials succeeded in persuading them to remove the dharna. The police were investigating.
