Bus full of devotees rams into hillock; woman dies, 7 injured
In the semi-hilly terrain of the Kandi area, a mini bus full of devotees going to Guru Ravidas Charan Chhoh Ganga near Khuralgarh collided with a hillock, killing a woman and injuring seven others.
The incident occurred around 2 pm when the brakes of the bus failed. There were about 24 devotees in the bus, who were said to be from Samrala and Machhiwara.
According to information, the bus of a private academy, driven by Amandeep Singh, was carrying the devotees from Samrala to Charan Chhoh Ganga, Khuralgarh. When the bus was about 100 metres from the destination, it went out of control due to brakes failure. It collided with a hillock, causing injuries to the passengers (mostly children and women).
The injured were immediately taken to hospitals by ambulances with help of Gurdwara president Baba Kewal Singh. They were taken to General Hospital, Bathari, Himachal Pradesh, and Civil Hospital, Garhshankar. One of them, Kiran Bala (60) died. Apart from her, seven people were injured. Three of them were discharged from the hospital after first-aid and those with serious injuries included Harleen Kaur (12), Sarojbala (58), Himanshi (6) and Manveer (10) were undergoing treatment in the Civil Hospital, Garhshankar.
