Nothing for state: Charanjit Channi

The Budget has nothing to offer to the state. Punjab was not even named once by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her speech. The NDA government has not made any promise to farmers. There has not been a word on debt waiver for them. The receipts for 2024-25 are estimated to touch Rs 32.07 lakh crore and expenses will go up. The government has announced to take loans of Rs 25 lakh crore in just one year. This will put the country’s fiscal health in a very tight spot.

The proposals are in favour of the salaried class. These will begin to show results soon. The Budget is never for or against any state. There are 28 states and the Centre cannot focus on each state in the Budget. More important is the fact that the Finance Minister has considered the welfare of all sections of society. I will take up the issues of Jalandhar’s sports industry having issues regarding the GST and income tax slabs with the Centre and get these resolved.

A bundle of lies: RK Chabbewal

The Budget is a bundle of lies. The Modi government has ignored Punjab in the Budget, paying no heed to the needs of people. The Budget has reflected the anti-farmer stand of the BJP government. Although the Budget is for the country, the Modi govt has given package only to Andhra Pradesh and Bihar to keep his government safe. There is nothing for employment in the Budget. There is nothing for farmers. Apart from this, no steps have been taken to promote the industry.

Farmers ignored: Yamini Gomar

The budget has no focus on development. There’s always a requirement to modernise infrastructure in every state but there’s nothing for development except for two states – Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. The Union Budget has neglected Punjab and there is nothing in this Budget for the state. Even farmers and the industry have been ignored . People know that the Budget is just a farce. It has failed on the expectations of the people from all walks of life.
