The police have arrested a person on charges of extortion, cheating and snatching.The accused has been identified as Joban Preet Singh of Chanann Windi village in Kapurthala. Narinder Singh (58) of Jainpur village had complained to the police that the accused and his four accomplices, including a woman, had looted Rs 15,000, an Apple watch and four ATM cards and forced him to disclose PIN and sign a cheque at Saidpur Jhirri village on September 9. He had claimed that Joban Preet Singh was the conspirator.

Woman booked for hubby suicide

The Nakodar police have booked a woman on the charge of forcing her husband to commit suicide. The accused has been identified as Simmi Mahant of Sammipur village. Hardev Singh of Mohalla Sherpur, Nakodar city, complained to the police that his son Sunni's (24) marriage was solemnised with the accused two years ago. He said his daughter-in-law had cold relations with his son and she went to her parental house on September 28 and kept on harassing his son who committed suicide on October 7 night.

Man booked for extortion

The Lohian Khas police have booked a Tarn Taran gangster on the charge of extortion. The accused has been identified as Satnam Singh, alias Sata, of Naushehra Pannuan village. Bikar Singh complained to the police that the accused made two calls from two numbers on his phone number and demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom money and threatened him. A case has been registered against the accused.

Two held for stealing rods

The police have arrested two persons on the charge of stealing iron rods from a gurdwara. The accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh of Mehatpur and Lovpreet Singh of Aadra Maan village. Baljindar Singh of Bulandpuri village complained to the police that the accused stole iron rods and shuttering items from the gurdwara Bulandpuri Sahib. A case has been registered against the accused.

Two booked for stealing bike

The Nakodar police have booked two miscreants on the charge of stealing a motorcycle. The accused have been identified as Rahul and Bablu of Mohalla Ravidaspura in Nakodar.The accused stole a motorcycle from near the Civil Hospital and other items and a case has been registered against them.

Villager booked for assault

The police have booked a villager on the charge of assaulting a co-villager. Balwindar Singh of Bilga complained to the police that Karnail Singh barged into his house and attacked him and his mother with a sharp-edged weapon and injured them.A case has been registered against the accused.
