Briefly: Man killed in road accident
One person died in a road accident here. Avtar Singh, a resident of Mall Mazara village, told the Sadar police that his father Kewal Singh was hit by a car near Rayat Bahara College on Chandigarh Road. He said his father, who was seriously injured in the accident, was taken to the civil hospital where he died. The Sadar police have registered a case against car driver identified as Iqbal Singh, a resident of Bohan village.
Two bikers loot teacher
Hoshiarpur: Two snatchers looted gold jewellery from a teacher, returning from school, after threatening her with weapons. The police have registered a case in this connection. Rajni Trehan, a resident of Gandhi Chowk, Bahadurpur, told the police that she was returning home after her duty at school. Two bike-borne persons waylaid Rajni near her house and snatched an earring from. During commotion, she fell down. The suspects threatened her with weapons and snatched her other earring and gold bracelet before fleeing from the spot.
One held with 40gm heroin
Hoshiarpur: The Model Town police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 40 grams of heroin from his possession. The arrested suspect has been identified as Vikram, a resident Balveer Colony, New Model Town. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act.
Child abandoned, two booked
Hoshiarpur: The Dasuya police have registered a case against a woman and her paramour on the charge of abandoning former's one-year-old daughter. According to information, Navaljit, a resident of Mangala village in Sirsa district of Haryana, had lodged a complaint with the Dasuya police in which he alleged that his wife Rajni Kaur had gone to attend a wedding in Hanumangarh on November 15. When he called his wife on her mobile phone he found that it was switched off. Later, when he saw a video on his cellphone on November 21, he came to know that on November 18, his wife had fled with her paramour Sandeep Singh, leaving their one-year-old daughter Gurnoor near the Dasuya Civil Hospital. After registering a case against Rajni and Sandeep, the police started further probe into the matter.
Cloth merchant’s shop burgled
Phagwara: A cloth merchant's shop at Narur village near Phagwara was reportedly burgled on Friday night. Burglars entered the shop of one Lovedeep after breaking the locks. They took away clothes worth lakhs of rupees from the shop. The police have registered a case in this connection.
