Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Raj Kumar, resident of Bhagatpura, Phagwara, the police have registered a case against a youth Deepa Kumar on the charge of abducting a minor daughter of the complainant. The girl has been missing since December 11. The victim expressed his doubts that his neighbour Deepak abducted his daughter. No arrest has been made so far. oc
Liquor Smuggler arrested
Phagwara: The police have arrested a 'liquor smuggler' and seized 48 bottles of illicit liquor from him. The accused, identified as Ramu of Andhra Pradesh presently residing near Law Gate, Miherru, was nabbed at a check point. A case under the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused. oc

Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have booked a vehicle driver on a charge of killing a migrant couple in an accident. Ravi Muni, a Bihar native, presently living at Sangowal Tibbe village, complained to the police that a vehicle hit his brother Sushila Muni and his wife Rekha Kumari near Billa village, who died on the spot. A case of the BNS has been registered against the driver. oc
2 booked for theft from shop
Phagwara: The police have booked two Moga villagers on the charge of stealing electrical items from a shop. The accused have been identified as Chamkaur Singh of Kartar Colony, Moga, and his brother Titu Singh. Charanjit Singh of Mahunwal village complained to the police that the accused stole electrical items from his shop on December 3 night. A case under the BNS has been registered against the accused. oc
Couple held for caste remarks
Phagwara: The police have arrested a couple on the charges of using caste remarks, criminal intimidation and blocking pathways. Nakodar DSP Sukh Pal Singh said the accused had been identified as Mukhtiar Singh of Eeda village and his wife Kulwindar Kaur. A case was registered against the accused. oc
Villager held for liquor sale
Nakodar: The police have arrested a villager on a charge of selling illicit liquor. Investigating Officer Avtar Singh said 9 bottles of hooch were seized from the possession of the accused identified as Gurjant Singh, a resident of Birr Baloki village. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act was registered against the accused. oc
