Brief: One nabbed for raping a minor in Hoshiarpur
The police have arrested a person for sexually exploiting a mentally challenged minor girl and impregnating her. The parents of the minor girl told the police that their daughter is mentally challenged. She was having pain in her stomach. When the girl was examined by a doctor, she was found to be pregnant. When the girl was questioned, she said Harjinder of village Saila Kalan had been taking her to his house and sexually exploiting her. The accused has been arrested.
Villager booked for rape bid
Phagwara: The police have booked a Jalandhar villager on the charge of attempting to rape a minor. The accused had been identified as Som Lal of Khunn Khunn village. The grandfather of the victim complained to the police that the accused barged into his house on November 8 morning and attempted to rape his minor granddaughter. A case has been registered against the accused.
Man booked for extortion
Phagwara: The police have booked a Tarn Taran villager on the charge of extortion. The accused had been identified as Satnam Singh of Naushehra Pannuan village, Tarn Taran. Gurcharan Singh of Nasserpur village complained to the police that the accused made two calls and demanded Rs 50 lakh. A case has been registered.
Two 'drug peddlers' held
Phagwara: The police have arrested two 'drug peddlers' on the charge of selling intoxicated tablets. DSP Sukhpal Singh said 462 tablets were recovered from the possession of accused Balwindar Singh alias Laddu and Prince Gill, both residents of Uggi village.
Youth booked for kidnapping
Phagwara: The police have booked a youth on the charge of kidnapping a minor. The accused has been identified as Akash Deep, alias Teji, of Udhowal village. A resident of Mehatpur complained to the police that the accused kidnapped her minor daughter. A case has been registered against the accused.
Two booked for encroachment
Phagwara: The police have booked two persons on the charge of encroaching on a shop. The accused have been identified as Ashwani Jindal of Shahkot and his son Karan Jindal. Nitin Sharma of Shahkot complained to the police that the accused encroached on his shop. A case has been registered.
SDM meets principals
Phagwara: SDM Jashanjit Singh on Tuesday held a meeting with principals and in-charges of schools in the area, asking them to implement the Safe School Vahan Policy as per the directions of the Supreme Court.The SDM directed the principals to ensure the safety of children in school buses and to follow the guidelines strictly.
