Phagwara: Some miscreants reportedly burgled the house of a labourer in Phagwara on Thursday afternoon. They entered the house after breaking locks, ransacked it and took away valuables from the house. Surinder Kumar told the police that he was working as labourer in crematorium at Banga Road, Phagwara, and found his house burgled and found cash of Rs 50,000, one gold ring and brass utensils from his house stolen. The police have registered a case. oc

5 booked for assault

Phagwara: The police have booked five villagers on the charge of assaulting a co-villager. The accused have been identified as Sukhjit Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Jugraj Singh, Varinder Singh and Jas Rai, all residents of Kakarr Kalan village. Harjit Singh of the same village complained to the police that the accused attacked him with weapons and seriously injured him on October 20 and threatened him with dire consequences. A case under the BNS has been registered against the accused. oc

Four booked for criminal trespass

Phagwara: The police have booked four persons, including a couple, for criminal trespass, intimidation and committing the crime with common intention. Nakodar DSP Sukhpal Singh said the accused had been identified as Lakhwindar Singh of Billi Chao village, his wife Sukhwindar Kaur, and their two accomplices. Baljit Kaur complained to the police that the accused razed the ceiling of the cattle shed to encroach it on November 12. A case has been registered against the accused. oc

Villagers booked for theft

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked two villagers for stealing iron items from a plot. The accused have been identified as Nirmal Singh of Bundala village and his brother Bhupindar Singh. Balwindar Singh of Aadarsh Nagar, Nakodar, complained to the police that the accused stole iron pipes, plates and barbed wire from his plot on September 9. A case under the BNS has been registered after inquiry. oc

Scooter stolen from varsity

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Sunita Rani Kashyap, a resident of Ekta Nagar, Phagwara, the police have registered a case against unknown persons. The complainant told the police on Friday that she went in a private university after parking her scooter outside, but found it stolen when she came out after some time. oc

2 booked for farm fires

Phagwara: The police have booked a villager for burning stubble. The suspect had been identified as Gurdeep Singh of Pandori Khas village. Cluster officer Manpreet Singh reported that the suspect burnt stubble in his village. A case has been registered. The police also booked Sukhdev Singh of Bath Kalan village for farm fires. oc
