Bike stolen from shopping complex
Phagwara: A motorcycle bearing registration number PB-08BV-0296 was stolen from a shopping complex of Eastwood village near Phagwara on Thursday night. The victim, Anil Kumar, a resident of Mehatpur, told the police that he went to a showroom after parking his bike. When he returned, he found his bike missing. The police have registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC. OC
Earrings snatched
Phagwara: Two unidentified miscreants snatched gold ear-rings from a woman riding pillion with her husband on an Activa scooter near Eastwood village on Thursday. The snatchers managed to flee after the incident. On a complaint lodged by Harbans Lal, a resident of Khurala Kingra village, the police have registered a case. OC
Body found on banks of canal
Phagwara: A middle-aged unidentified person was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the banks of a canal near Zandiala Manzki village on the Phagwara-Nakodar road on Thursday evening. The police have kept the body for identification in the hospital mortuary after autopsy. A case has been registered in this regard. OC
4 arrested on theft charge
Phagwara: The Goraya police have arrested four persons involved in a theft at Shri Ram Mandir Rishi Kutiya, Goraya. The police recovered stolen goods and cash from their possession. SHO Goraya Sukhdev Singh said the police also recovered a car used in the crime. The suspects have been identified as Suraj Nath of Moga, Gopi Nath of Ludhiana, Sahil of Sirsa and Sheikhu Nath of Ludhiana. Two of their other accomplices are still at large. They would be nabbed soon, said the SHO. OC
Four held for tractor theft
Phagwara: The Phagwara police have arrested four persons on the charge of stealing a tractor-trailer at Baba-Gadhia locality in Phagwara on Thursday night. Superintendent of Police Phagwara Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the police recovered the stolen tractor-trailer from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Lovely, Narinder Kumar, Mukesh Kumar and Surinder Pal. OC
Husband held in dowry case
Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have arrested Balwindar Singh, a resident of Gatti Rahime Ki village in Feroze Pur, in a dowry harassment case. Santosh Kaur, daughter of Surinder Singh, a resident of Mundi Chohlian village, had filed a complaint with the SSP, Jalandhar (rural), saying her marriage was solemnised with Balwindar Singh, who was serving in the Punjab Police, in 2020. She said in her complaint that her husband and his family started harassing her demanding more dowry three days after the marriage. IO Avtar Singh said a case was registered. He was granted anticipatory bail by a court but dowry items including jewellery were recovered from his possession.
