Art competition marks World Sight Day
Thind Eye Hospital organised an art competition for school students in observance of World Sight Day 2024.
The event, themed 'Love Your Eyes', aimed to promote eye health awareness among children and attracted participation from over 400 students representing 17 schools from across Jalandhar.
World Sight Day, recognised annually on the second Thursday of October, focuses on raising awareness about the significance of eye health.
This year’s competition invited students to express their understanding of eye care through imaginative drawings and paintings, highlighting the importance of maintaining good vision in today’s digital age.
Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, was the chief guest at the event. He said, "It is important for children to understand early on the importance of protecting their eyes. The students have shown their creativity and awareness of eye health in a commendable way.”
Awards were presented to the top performers in both the junior and senior categories, with Heavendeep Singh from Police DAV School bagging the first place in the junior wing and Amaira from Little Blossom School in the senior wing.
Judging the competition were local artisans Megha Malhotra, Ruchi Chopra, Amarpreet, Simran Kaur and Nitika Gupta.
