Ambedkar Sena seeks action in memorial case
The Ambedkar Sena Punjab has called for strict action against miscreants involved in vandalising the memorial of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, in Mumbai. In protest against the incident, the organisation submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to SDM Phagwara, Jashanjit Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Surinder Dhanda, president of Ambedkar Sena Punjab, condemned the act and emphasised that it has deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of followers of Dr Ambedkar worldwide. He highlighted that the incident, which occurred recently in Maharashtra's capital Mumbai, has sparked outrage and unrest within the community.
“We urge the President, who herself belongs to the ST community, to take a strong stand against this heinous act and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice. This will serve as a deterrent to prevent such unfortunate incidents in future,” said Dhanda.
The delegation accompanying Dhanda included several prominent members of Ambedkar Sena Punjab. The memorandum expressed confidence in the President’s commitment to uphold the dignity of Dr Ambedkar’s legacy and sought her intervention in ensuring strict punishment for those responsible for vandalism.
