Amandeep scores hat-trick as Round Glass trounce Army Boys 5-4 in hockey tourney
In the opening match of the 18th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament (Under-19 Boys) which started at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar, Round Glass Hockey Academy, Mohali defeated Army Boys, Bangalore 5-4 after a tough contest to bag three points in the league. The tournament was inaugurated by Namdhari Satguru Uday Singh while principal of DAV College, Jalandhar, Rajesh Kumar presided over the opening ceremony.
In the first league, both the teams put on a brilliant display of hockey. In the 5th minute of the game, Arjinder Singh made the score 1-0 by scoring a field goal for Round Glass. Army’s Sachin equalised by scoring in the 7th minute. In the 9th minute, Army’s Sachin scored another goal to make the score 2-1. In the 21st minute of the game, Amandeep scored a goal for the Round Glass to make the score 2-2. Army’s Arjun scored a goal in the 23rd minute to make the score 3-2. In the 49th minute, Amandeep of Round Glass scored once again to make the score 3-3. Army’s Dayaram scored in the 53rd minute to make the score 4-3. After this, Sukhwinder Singh scored in the 54th minute of the game and Amandeep scored in the 56th minute to give Round Glass a 5-4 victory. Amandeep of Round Glass scored the first hat-trick of the tournament. Amandeep was declared the best player of the match.
