ABVP sends memo to President for Kolkata doctor’s rape & murder

Hoshiarpur, August 17

In protest of the tragic incident of rape and murder of a junior resident doctor at Kolkata Medical College, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) sent a memorandum to the President of India through Hoshiarpur ADC. Members, through the memorandum, alleged that efforts were being made by the Mamata-led government to save the culprits involved in the case. The memorandum also demanded that the President herself intervene in the matter and a time limit be set for the CBI inquiry. It demanded that strict action be taken against those accused of vandalism at the hospital and the victim’s family be provided full protection and assistance. Along with this, a request was also made to implement strict safety protocols for women at workplaces. — OC
