Abhinav strikes gold at World Railways Badminton Championship

Abhinav Thakur, representing the Indian Railways, secured the gold medal at the prestigious World Railways Badminton Championship, held in Poland from October 2-5.

This latest victory adds to his growing list of accolades, solidifying his position as one of state’s top badminton players.

Hailing from Jalandhar, Abhinav has been the state champion for the last three consecutive years and holds the top ranking in the state. His dominance extends beyond national borders, having won numerous medals at state, national and international levels. Earlier this year, he also clinched the gold at the Inter-Railway Badminton Championship, held in Gorakhpur and the Central Zone Badminton Championship in Hyderabad.

Abhinav’s father Sudarshan Singh expressed pride in his son’s achievements, saying, “His hard work and dedication to the sport have brought him here. We are proud of him for not only winning the championships, but also representing our country on an international platform.”

Known for his agility and precision on the court, Abhinav has garnered the widespread recognition not only within Punjab, but also across India. His consistent performances have earned him a reputation as a formidable opponent in the badminton circles.

“This gold at the World Railways Championship marks another milestone in his impressive career, further boosting his prospects on the international stage”, his father said.
