542 cops pass out from PAP centre
A passing-out parade for 542 constables, including 361 men and 181 women for the Chandigarh Police, was held at the Punjab Armed Police training centre at Jalandhar Cantonment on Tuesday.
Raj Kumar Singh, IG, UT, presided over the parade as the chief guest in which the recruits moved out after obtaining initial training. He took salute from the recruits. He appealed to the recruits to work with diligence and maintain discipline throughout their career.
Constable Suresh Chaudhary was declared all-round first. Yogesh Kumar bagged the first prize in outdoor activities while constable Naresh was declared winner in the indoor activities. Women recruit Uma was declared the best in shooting. Parade commander was constable Nitesh while constable Tara Chand was the second parade commander.
After the parade, a band did a splendid performance. This was followed by a weapon handling display, tattoo show, mass PT and bhangra. DSP Subhash Chander Arora presented a vote of thanks. Among those present were Inderbir Singh DIG (Admn), PAP, Ketan Bansal, SP, Headquarters, UT, and Gurtejinder Singh Aulakh, Commandant 7th Battalion.
