493 traffic violators challaned in spl drive
The Commissionerate Police has launched a crackdown on traffic violations under a special campaign across the city.
In a bid to streamline traffic flow and improve public safety, the authorities have registered 13 FIRs, issued 499 notices and handed out 493 challans to offenders.
The campaign comes under the directives of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma on 17 key roads.
Roads such as Adda Hoshiarpur, Jail Chowk, Kamal Palace Road and Railway Station Road have been marked as one-way from 8am to 8pm.
Among the 493 traffic challans, 214 were for underage driving, while 279 for violations by school buses, vans and autos. In addition, 499 notices were issued to businesses and individuals illegally occupying public roads, including shop owners, street vendors and hotels.
