Jalandhar, August 29
Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal on Thursday distributed financial assistance worth ~23 lakh to 48 needy children under the sponsorship scheme of the Social Security Department.
While distributing the cheques to children, Dr Aggarwal said under the Mission Vatsalya Scheme, children who had lost their parents were being provided financial help to ensure their education and social welfare.
He urged the children to work hard for success in life. The sponsorship scheme was aimed at making the children self-reliant for their future educational pursuits.
Children (between 0-18 age group) who have lost their parents are covered under the sponsorship scheme. The DC also directed the District Programme Office that no eligible children should be deprived of the benefit of the welfare scheme as it is beneficial for their future financial stability.
DPO Manjinder Singh mentioned that eligible individuals may contact him in his office at Gandhi Vanita Ashram to register themselves under the scheme.
