40 youths challaned over eve-teasing in Jalandhar

To combat eve-teasing, the Commissionerate Police has launched a special drive on the directives of Swapan Sharma, Commissioner of Police. The purpose of the drive aims to create a safe and secure environment for girl students.
The campaign, which took place on Monday, saw significant police activity across the city. Aditya, ADCP City-2, led the special drive from 1pm to 2:30pm, targeting multiple educational institutions.
The operation involved extensive checking conducted by teams led by SHOs. These efforts were concentrated outside several schools, colleges and other educational institutes.
“By establishing a strong police presence and taking immediate action against offenders, the Commissionerate Police aims to foster a safe academic environment”, Aditya said.
A total of 40 challans were issued to violators and several suspects were detained and later released after giving them stern warnings regarding their conduct.
“The intensified campaign against eve-teasing reflects the police’s dedication to addressing this pressing issue. By taking decisive action, we aim to protect the dignity of students across Jalandhar, setting a precedent for the continued vigilance and community support in eradicating such social menace”, police officials said.
