3 more arrested in Pipli village attack case
The Jalandhar Rural police have apprehended three more suspects in connection with the brutal attack on ex-serviceman Balwinder Singh’s family in Pipli village, Lohian.
The arrests come as part of an ongoing investigation into the violent incident that occurred on August 3. This brings the total number of arrests to 13.
The three suspects who have been arrested are — Mandeep Singh of Billi Chaharmi, Pradeep Singh of Akbarpur Kala and Harpreet Singh of Nurpur Chatha. All three are believed to have played crucial roles in the premeditated assault, which was orchestrated over a land dispute.
SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh stated, “These suspects not only participated in the attack, but also aided in the extensive damage and theft that occurred.” The arrests were made by Lohian SHO Labh Singh.
On the night of August 3, a group of approximately 100 men, led by the key suspects, forcibly entered the home of Balwinder Singh in Pipli village. The assailants attacked Balwinder Singh with a knife, assaulted his wife Kashmir Kaur and ransacked the house, stealing valuables and causing significant property damage.
The attack was reportedly orchestrated by two NRI brothers — Dara Singh and Darbara Singh — who are currently residing in England. The dispute involved a 10.5-acre piece of land, which the NRI brothers had purchased and sought to take possession of by force.
