24-year-old youth’s body found near fuel station on Goindwal Sahib road

The body of a young man was found near a petrol station on the Goindwal Sahib road in Kapurthala today morning. A bike was also found near the body. The police reached the spot and took the body into custody. The body was kept in the mortuary of the civil hospital. An investigation has been initiated into the matter.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sub-Division) Harpreet Singh said it was suspected that the bike rider met with an accident involving an unknown vehicle on Friday night. The deceased youth was identified as 24-year-old Jatinder Singh, son of Vijay Singh, a resident of Naven Pind Bhatthe village .
As per information, a passerby informed the police control room on Monday morning that a body of a youth was lying near a petrol pump located on the Goindwal Sahib road. After receiving the information, a Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) team reached the spot and took the body and the bike (bearing registration number PB-09-AK-9591) parked nearby into possession.
Meena Devi, mother of the deceased youth, said she was informed in the morning by an auto-rickshaw driver, Heera Singh, an acquaintance of hers, that her son Jatinder Singh’s body had been found on a roadside. She said her son had serious injuries on his head.
Amarpreet, a resident of Nave Pind village, who was a friend of the deceased, said he was with Jatinder Singh last night. Amarpreet said he left Jatinder at his home and went back to his house yesterday night. When he came to know about the incident in the morning, he reached the spot, said Amarpreet.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector posted with the Sadak Suraksha Force team said they received a call from the control room today morning that an accident had taken place near a petrol station on the Goindwal Sahib road. The Sadak Suraksha Force team reached the spot and took the body into possession, he said.
