200 students participate in World Science Day celebrations
Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated World Science Day for peace and development, attracting over 200 students and teachers from across Punjab. This year’s theme, “Global Science for Global Well-being”, underscored the vital role of science in society and highlighted the need for public engagement in meaningful discussions about scientific advancements.
Science City Director Dr Rajesh Grover, in his introductory remarks, highlighted the indispensable role of science in everyday life and the profound impact of these in addressing challenges, enhancing knowledge and improving education and the overall quality of life.
Dr Grover encouraged students to actively participate in local, national and international science fairs as platforms to demonstrate their skills, creativity and potential to innovate. He emphasised the importance of developing innovative solutions to protect the planet, stressing on responsible use of resources and the adoption of clean energy. He called upon the youth to harness the power of science not only to advance knowledge, but to contribute to a sustainable future.
Dr Pooja Devi, Principal Scientist at CSIR-CSIO, was the key speaker during the programme.
