2 drug peddlers held, 255 narcotic pills seized
In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested two notorious ‘drug smugglers’ and seized 255 narcotic pills during a special operation conducted at the infamous locality of Kingra Choe Wala.
The arrested accused have been identified as Satnam Singh, alias Satta, and Akashdeep, alias Akash, both of village Kingra Choe Wala, Police Station, Bhogpur.
Speaking to the media, Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh stated that following specific intelligence inputs about drug trafficking activities in the area, special teams were constituted to conduct raids at suspected locations. “This operation is part of our sustained campaign against drug trafficking in the region,” said SSP Khakh.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Jasroop Kaur Bath, SP (Investigation), Kulwant Singh, DSP, Subdivision Adampur, and Inspector Sikandar Singh Virk, SHO, Police Station, Bhogpur.
“Our teams, led by ASI Karnail Singh and ASI Mahesh Kumar, conducted simultaneous operations in Kingra Choe Wala. The first team recovered 135 narcotic pills from Satnam Singh, while the second team seized 120 narcotic pills from Akashdeep. Both accused attempted to flee while spotting the police teams but were apprehended,” informed SSP Khakh.
“A case has been registered under Sections 22, 61-85, the NDPS Act, at Police Station, Bhogpur, Jalandhar,” added SSP Khakh.
“Initial investigation reveals that both accused were actively involved in drug peddling in the area. Their interrogation is likely to reveal crucial information about the drug trafficking network operating in the region,” said SSP Khakh.
The arrested accused will be produced in a local court and their police remand will be sought to investigate their forward and backward links in the drug trafficking network. “We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and street crime. Anyone found involved in such activities will face strict legal action.
I urge the public to continue supporting our efforts by providing information about drug-related activities in their areas,” emphasised SSP Khakh.
