2 arrested for assaulting, robbing e-rickshaw owner
The city police have arrested two suspects involved in a robbery case.
According to the police, a complaint was lodged by Dablu, a resident of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, and tenant in Badridas Colony, here.
He reported that on September 9, while operating his e-rickshaw, bearing registration number PB-08-FJ-1985, near Jyoti Chowk, two persons boarded his vehicle and directed him to take them to a nearby street.
Once they reached that solitary place, he was assaulted by the suspects. One of the men allegedly threatened him with a sharp iron weapon (datar) while the other forcibly took Rs 1,200 from his pockets. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police registered an FIR under Sections 309 (3) and 3 (5) of the BNS at Police Station Division Number 3.
During investigation, the police identified the suspects as Abhi Batra, alias Kala, of Rasta Mohalla and Tarun Sahota, alias Mota, of Baghia Mohalla. Both have been arrested and the weapon used in the crime had been recovered.
Commissioner Swapan Sharma stated that further investigations were underway and additional details, including their involvement in other snatching incidents, would be shared once investigation proceeded. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to eliminating crime from the city.
