1kg heroin, Rs 4 lakh seized from peddler

A CIA staff team of the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested a man for drug smuggling from the posh Green Park area here and recovered 1 kg of heroin and Rs 4 lakh cash. The accused, identified as Shinda Singh, hails from Bhangowala village in Ferozepur.

The police have registered a case against him under Section 21(C) and 61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are now interrogating him to uncover the source of heroin and details about his drug trafficking network.

The arrest followed a tip-off that Singh had been spotted in the Green Park area. Acting on this information, the police laid a trap and conducted a raid. Singh was caught with the contraband and the cash during the operation.

CIA in-charge Surinder Singh confirmed his arrest and the recovery, saying further investigation in the case was underway and they were focusing on identifying how much heroin Singh had trafficked so far and where his supplies were distributed.
