11,500 kg of lahan seized from villages along Beas river

A special operation was initiated recently under the directions of Hoshiarpur Assistant Commissioner (Excise) Hanuwant Singh in the Mand area to curb illegal liquor trade. In the operation conducted under the supervision of Preet Bhupinder Singh, Excise Officer, Hoshiarpur-2, a massive search operation was launched with the help of Excise police in Dasuya.

The operation started at 5 am from mand areas in Bhikhowal, Terkiana and Saidpur village of Excise Circle Dasuya. It was coducted by Naresh Sahota, Amit Viyas, Kulwant Singh Rattr, Ajay Sharma, Lovepreet Singh (Excise Inspectors, Dasuya, Mukerian, Garhdiwal, Tanda and Hariana, respectively) along with excise police of Hoshiarpur. During the search operation which lasted five hours, the entire stretch of Mand areas at Saidpur, Bhikhowal and Terkiana villages along the Beas was searched and recoveries were made.

During the operation, 23 terpaulins, three drums, six plastic containers, four iron tins and 11,500 kg of lahan were seized. The lahan was destroyed on the spot. The team searched the areas on the bank of the Beas and a stretch in water with the help of boats.
