10 held for crime in Phagwara

Phagwara, August 17

The police have nabbed 10 suspect involved in different criminal activities in and around Phagwara. This was confirmed by Vatasala Gupta, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kapurthala, on Saturday.

In the first case, the police arrested and booked three miscreants under Sections 333,115(2), 191(3) and 190 of the BNS for attacking a family and injuring them at their house near the industrial area on August 15 night in Phagwara.

The arrested suspects were identified as Rashpal Singh, alias Kala, a resident of Phillaur, and Sukhjinder, alias Raju, and Sunny, both residents of Mehatpur, while their 11 accomplices managed to flee.

The SSP said victim Prem Chand, a resident of Chachoki, told the police that Rashpal had a bad eye on his young daughter and often followed her. He said more than 12 armed bike-borne assailants barged into his house and attacked his family. The victim said the suspects managed to flee when he raised an alarm. Injured Prem Chand was admitted to the local civil hospital.

In the second incident, the police arrested two suspects and booked them under Sections 379, 457, 380 and 379B of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for their involvement in different crimes. The arrested suspects were identified as Avinash Mishra, a resident of Gobindpura, and Karan Patel, a resident of Basant Nagar in Phagwara.

In the third case the police arrested one vehicle thief and recovered one stolen car bearing registration number PB-8BT-8014 and three stolen mobile phones from his possession on Friday night. The arrested suspect was identified as Sukhwinder Kumar, alias Hani, a resident of Kanshi Nagar in Phagwara.

In the fourth incident, the police arrested three persons and booked them under the Arms Act after recovering one pistol, six live cartridges and one Maruti Zen car bearing registration number PB-06D-5788 from their possession. The arrested suspects were identified as Onkar Singh, alias Golu and Prince, both residents of Pandwan village and Inderjit, a resident of Chandpur village in Jalandhar district.

In the fifth case, the police arrested a drug smuggler after recovering 4 gram of heroin from his possession on Friday night. The arrested suspect was identified as Sulinder Kumar, a resident of Dhaliwal village.
