Jalandhar: Threatened by client, trader dies by suicide, wife on ventilator

Note blames firm owner, son; probe soon

In a shocking incident, a middle-aged couple from Aman Nagar, here, consumed a poisonous substance and attempted suicide on Thursday night. While the man, identified as Ish Vicher died, his wife Indu is stated to be critical and is on the ventilator.

Their son Vibhor, in his complaint to the SHO, Division 8, stated that his father was a businessman and traded in batteries. He supplied some batteries to a firm in Jalandhar but the owner was delaying the payment. Fed up with the delay, he got a legal notice issued to the company.

Was delaying payment

“After that, he and his son started threatening to kill my father and his family. My parents were so scared that they took this extreme step,” he alleged. He also marked the complaint letter to the DGP, Punjab, and the Police Commissioner, Jalandhar.

Vibhor further alleged that the payment of Rs 90 lakh was due to the firm. A suicide note was also found in which the deceased mentioned that he had sold batteries to the firm owner and there were proofs as well.

“There are bills and every information available on the laptop. We had also sent a legal notice to the firm owners after which he was calling us repeatedly and threatening to kill our entire family, we cannot take this anymore and are ending our lives,” the suicide note reads.

The SHO said a case has been registered against the accused. “We have acted according to the statement made by deceased’s son. We will inquire the matter and will arrest the duo,” he said.
