The 18-year-old, who hails from Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, is currently residing in Green Model Town. She was returning home after visiting her sister-in-law. Laxmi was accompanied by her younger sister and a neighbour’s daughter when she noticed three men watching her on a motorcycle.

The bike was being driven by a man wearing a turban, while the one seated in the middle had his face covered with a handkerchief.

As Laxmi neared her house, the bike stopped beside her, and the man wearing the turban briefly said, “Sorry”. Confused by the interaction, Laxmi didn’t react right away. However, as the bike began moving again, the man sitting behind her tried to snatch her mobile phone. Laxmi fought back, refusing to let go of the phone.

Determined to snatch the phone, the snatchers dragged her along the road while she screamed for help. Laxmi’s sister and neighbours chased her, but the snatchers eventually overpowered her and fled with the phone.

SHO Division Number 7, Sahil Chaudhary, said the police have obtained clues from the footage and have launched an investigation to apprehend the snatchers.
