Former CM Jai Ram Thakur today condemned Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu for questioning the credibility of EVMs after his party won 40 seats in the last Assembly elections two years back. Thakur described Sukhu’s statements as irresponsible, asserting that they insult the democratic process and the mandate of the people. He emphasised that Sukhu had previously benefited from the same EVMs to secure his position in the Assembly multiple times.
Thakur attributed the Congressrecent electoral defeat to its tendency to prioritise party interests over public welfare, alleging that false promises made during the campaign led to voter distrust. He criticised the Sukhu government for failing to deliver on its promises, particularlyjob guarantees.
