Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, during a visit to his Seraj Assembly constituency in Mandi district today, criticised Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for the lack of control over the government and its officials.

Thakur said that many secretaries, department heads and other officials did not attend a crucial planning meeting called for preparing budget estimates, which was disregard of public interests.

He stated, “This autocratic behaviour of officials demonstrates a significant disconnect with the needs of the people. Important planning meetings, which determine the state’s development roadmap, are being treated with indifference.” He expressed concern that when government leaders did not prioritise such critical gatherings, it reflected poorly on their commitment to the state’s development.

Thakur criticised those who presented unrealistic budget figures at the meeting, leading to an uncomfortable atmosphere during discussions. He lamented the prevailing sense of irresponsibility and chaos within the government, indicating that no significant development work was being undertaken.
