Villagers in Kargil demand road, mobile connectivity

Residents of villages in Kargil have demanded installation of mobile towers for better communication and building of new roads in their areas.

Executive Councillor (EC), Public Health Engineering, Revenue and Tourism, of Hill Council Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz conducted an extensive tour of Pashkum village to review developmental activities and met various public delegations.

At Tharumsa village, the public delegation informed the EC about various issues, including construction of a multipurpose playground, fencing for graveyard, Tharumsa’s inclusion in the revenue village, building an ice hockey rink, and other demands.

The inhabitants of Grong Mohallah projected some demands like installation of tower for better mobile connectivity, construction of a pedestrian bridge at Fatto, approach road from Chumikstrang to Khang Rgyab, construction of community hall at Brok Khar, lift irrigation facility for the area besides other demands.

The locals of Fiyaqbar Mohallah informed the EC about various issues which includes construction of community hall at Yokma Fiyaqbar, protection bund at various places, installation of 250 kv transformer, construction of playfield, ice hockey rink, construction of children park and other issues.

The locals apprised the EC about various issues at Samar village like maintenance and macadamization of link road, fencing of graveyard, repair of electric supply lines, additional accommodation room at Middle School, Saamar, construction of lift water supply through reservoir, opening of Anganwadi Center besides other issues.

The EC informed the locals that maintenance of link roads of Pashkum village will be done on priority this year. He also said that many DPRs are already completed adding that this year works on various link roads will be executed. In response to women’s demands to open skill centres, the EC stated that a proposal has been forwarded to the higher authorities of UT Ladakh for approval.
