Udhampur administration tightens security
Jammu: Amidst the preparations for the forthcoming Assembly polls, the Udhampur administration has tightened the security measures in the district. Udhampur SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure said, “We have divided the security into two categories-pre-poll and poll. In the pre-poll category, we will ensure the security of campaigning and candidates along with exercises of area sanitisation and area domination. In the poll category, we will take care of the polling stations.” — ANI
Rusted mortar shell destroyed in Samba
Jammu: The Border Security Force on Tuesday destroyed a rusted mortar shell found in a border village in Samba district, officials said. BSF troops noticed the mortar shell in an open field during patrolling at Chachwal village in the Ghagwal sector around 8 am, they said. The mortar shell was safely destroyed in a controlled explosion around 8.45 am, the officials added. — PTI
Election officials visit remote village
Srinagar: The election authorities on Tuesday visited far-flung village of Karnah in Kupwara district which is located at LoC to take first hand appraisal of Assured Minimum Facilities and interact with voters of the areas. According to a statement, Kupwara District Election Officer Ayushi Sudan inspected polling station of Jabdi and reviewed its preparedness. The statement said, the inspection was aimed to ensure that this polling station is accessible to voters, especially specially-abled persons. — OC
