Udhampur administration holds security review meeting for development projects
Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai chaired a high-level meeting to review security arrangements for major developmental projects and labour camps in the district. The meeting was attended by Udhampur Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure and other officers besides representatives of Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, Project Manager Chenani-Sudhmahadev National Highway and contractors.
The DC took a detailed review of ongoing works and emphasised the need of inter-departmental coordination and removal of bottlenecks hindering progress. She directed the project manager to provide a daily line listing of labourers, including their numbers and locations and to submit a weekly report on the same. She also stressed the need to strengthen communication channels within the camps, sensitise workers on security measures and maintain a strict vigil on suspicious activity.
The SSP asked contractors to establish coordination with local SHO/SDPO and inform them about the location and movement of workers. He directs contractors for deployment of proper alarm systems in camps, ensuring a single entry/exit gate, installation of CCTV cameras with at least 15 days of storage capacity, adequate lighting and boundary walls for camps. He further directed for displaying contact numbers of the nearest SHO and SDPO on boards within the camp and deployment of Village Defence Group members for regular patrolling of labour camps.
Contractors and department officials were urged to strictly implement these measures to ensure the safety and security of workers and smooth execution of developmental projects.
